Dear Parents,
Congratulations! Your child is about to begin their final year of a three-year journey through the world’s many foreign languages. This year, we will focus on Spanish and explore the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. Last year, your child studied five different languages and cultures, which gave them the chance to learn about languages from around the world.
We’ve chosen to focus on Spanish because it’s both useful and one of the most popular foreign languages in high school. Think of this year as Spanish I for your child.
Here’s what we’ll cover in our seven-week study of Spanish 2:
Pastimes, likes and dislikes, and Argentinian history and culture.
AR verb conjugations and Peruvian history and culture.
ER/IR verb conjugations and Chilean history and culture.
Please note that the goal of this class is not to make your child fluent in Spanish. Instead, we’re exploring the language and introducing your child to the cultures and people of the Spanish-speaking world. I’ll be teaching this program in a fun, energetic, and engaging way! My hope is that this class and your child’s entire journey in foreign language will spark a lasting love for language and culture.
I’m excited to teach this final year of Spanish and to continue learning alongside your child!
Sincerely,
Mr. Hinks
