Dear Parents,
Congratulations! Your child is about to start an exciting three-year journey exploring the world’s languages and cultures. We’ll be learning about different countries and the languages they speak.
Get ready for an adventure! In 6th grade, we will be studying 7 different languages and cultures. While our main focus will be on learning about the culture, we’ll also learn some basic phrases and numbers in each language.
Here’s what we’ll be covering over the next seven weeks:
Why study a foreign language? We'll learn about the world and American Sign Language (ASL).
Latin: The root of many languages (basic phrases and history).
Spanish: Explore Spain (basic phrases and culture).
French: Discover France (basic phrases and culture).
Italian: Learn about Italy (basic phrases and culture).
German: Explore Germany (basic phrases and culture).
Japanese: Dive into Japan (basic phrases and culture).
The goal of this class isn’t to make your child fluent in these languages, but to introduce them to the amazing variety of languages and cultures around the world. I will make this program as fun and exciting as possible, and I hope it inspires your child to love learning about new languages and cultures.
I’m really looking forward to teaching this class and getting to know your kids!
Sincerely,
Mr. Hinks
