This year in science, students will focus on the study of earth science. The topics we will cover are in alignment with the California state standards. These standards can be reviewed in detail at their website.
Kennedy’s 6th grade science curriculum focuses on Earth Science, aligning with the California State standards. In addition to experiments, demos, and lab activities, students are introduced to writing lab reports, doing on-line activities, and reading and discussing technical literature with topics of interest in current science.
Students use a textbook and workbook in conjunction with hands-on learning. The textbook used has been “Focus on Earth Science” (CPO). When we refer that we will use this link to a PDF version of our textbook. We will also begin incorporating the district's newest textbook which may include Space at some point in the year.
