The Volunteer Leadership Council (VLC) of the Children’s Tumor Foundation is a group of the Foundation’s most distinguished and dedicated volunteers. Members are recognized within the council for their significant contributions to the Foundation. For this, they are offered opportunities to further develop their leadership abilities, fundraising skills and to interact with fellow members of the NF family and other community leaders.
Council members are the public ambassadors for patient education and community outreach within the Foundation. They are often the first contact that a family has when learning of a diagnosis. They are our most experienced volunteers in the areas of event organization, patient engagement, new volunteer recruitment, community support, and are champions of the NF cause.
The membership of the VLC changes annually, with new members being announced in January of each year based on meeting the Foundation-wide criteria; listed separately below. In other words, a person can be a member of the Leadership Council without any time limit at all, as long as the criteria are being met each year. As you read criteria below, you will see that great care and attention have been placed in creating criteria that include, fundraising for research and different types of volunteer service; and have been offered in such a way as to try to include as many people as possible who are working hard in various ways for the good and the goals of the Foundation. The VLC will consist of as many individuals as fit the recognition criteria below.
The Children’s Tumor Foundation brings members of the VLC together annually for training, camaraderie, and in celebration of their many achievements. In addition to attending the Volunteer Leadership Training Conference (VLTC), members will attend the NF Forum when held in conjunction with the Annual Scientific Conference.
