First and foremost, we are at the CSS campus to prepare for life at college, and a big part of that is schoolwork! Students will take one morning class and one afternoon class daily. After two weeks the classes switch, so by the end of the summer every students will have taken 4 classes in core subject areas. The exception is our juniors who replace their afternoon class with a Work Study. Our juniors will be out in the community working or job shadowing someone in their desired field!
Summer isnt boring! We have 8 Team Leaders who we hire to make sure everything is safe and orderly during the summer. These TLs are college students currently enrolled in CSS or other Universities. These TLs also help plan many of the afternoon activities and make sure a community of positivity and safety is continued.
In addition to some of the staples of summer, like the Talent Show, Cupcake Wars, rock people, and full access to the CSS wellness center we have added some cool new things to do as well! The Olympics have been altered to be more fun, and we will have regular athletic tournaments in a variety of areas to try out new sports. Also on the schedule is swimming, bonfires, and advanced smores! Those are just what we have scheduled now, give us a few more months and the calendar will be filled with things to make your days awesome!
Yes! Just a few things. Above you'll find out transportation schedule, and we ask that you commit that to your own schedule to make sure students can get to and from CSS. Additionally, everything we do will be free for the students. Every meal is paid for while they are with us, that includes on and off campus. If we decided for the final trip to go to a Cubs Game (example) we would pay for tickets and food, the only thing students will have to buy are things like snacks, trinkets, and extras. While on campus students can sign out during their activity time to go to Kenwood SuperOne with a group, if they would like snacks or things like that.
We also have specific procedure for things like: picking up a student early, missing classes, moving in and out, those specifics will be covered on the MAY Saturday Session OR on the first day Orientation
SEE YOU SOON!
