Mission Target Pre-Test & Reflection
The Mission starts with a pre-test to determine what the students already know about each of the Targets, they use that pre-test to reflect on how independent they are with each target; can they do it on their own, do they need just a big of help, or maybe they don't have it yet.
Mission Target Lessons & Experiences
The Mission Target lessons are developed from the Math in Focus, Engage NY, TERC, Khan Academy and various other sources to best provide the students with the experiences and practice they need to meet the standard expectations.
Evidence Collection
As we work through the targets they are encouraged to provide grade level evidence work of the target, to be used to help with the end of the unit post test and the student led conferences.
Mission Target Post Test & Brain Growth Report
The mission post-test is given once all the targets have been taught and experienced.
A brain growth report is provided to give evidence of brain growth from the beginning of the mission to the end. Full, partial, and not yet growth is noted for each target. The students are given the opportunity to review, fix, get help, and reflect on their brain growth for the mission in a small group. The brain growth report then shows the growth made after the reflection. We also take this time to reflect on the habits that led to the amount of brain growth they had: being ready, asking questions, checking their work, using class time well, and more.
Another part of the brain growth report is to again reflect on how independent they are with each of the targets.
Mission Target Feedback and Support
Throughout the mission the students are given feedback and support with hitting the targets through daily class work, 4 box quizzes, small group lessons, and alternative work.
