Non-Medical Transportation

Non-Medical Transportation

The Office for the Aging (OFA) offers transportation services primarily to shopping facilities, banks, pharmacies and nursing homes for visits, county agencies and congregate meal site locations. Rides are provided to individuals that are 60 and over and reside in Columbia County. Rides are primarily provided to and from locations within Columbia County. The OFA also offers special trips to other locations and events, i.e.) Colonie Center Mall, museums, restaurants, Columbia County Senior Day, the Golden Gathering, fairs and Lake George cruises. Rides are provided at no cost.

Disabled individuals needing assistance are required to travel with a companion who can provide such assistance. OFA staff cannot provide assistance, such as pushing wheel chairs or aiding individuals with walkers through stores or other locations. Riders should be able to load and unload their packages when shopping.

OFA TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM CONTINUES TO RUN!

If you need transportation, we have it! Our transportation program has been in operation since 2016 and has continued through the pandemic! The OFA has two vehicles, one a transportation van and the other a transportation bus that has a lift to assist individuals into the vehicle.

During the Covid-19 crisis, we are focused on protecting our clients and staff. Clients and staff are required to wear masks while in the vehicle. Riders must maintain social distancing and sit at least 6 feet apart. The number of riders in the vehicle at any time has been reduced due to the social distancing requirement. Hand sanitizer is available for usage on our vehicles. Vehicles are sanitized by staff throughout the day.

If you need a non-medical ride within Columbia County to the store, bank, pharmacy, etc. please call us at 518-828-4258 ext. #1.
