Analysis of Resources, Power, and Information

OVERVIEW INFORMATION: Parents need more support in order to connect school and home at a bigger scale.

→ Program for parents to be informed on the IB way of teaching, as well as what the program consists of.

→We have parents with students on IEPs that also need additional support-- this would be very beneficial in supporting their needs as well.

→This will help parents understand the theories and ideas that are being presented and the terminology that exists within IB.

POWER: Community members and staff: school board member, Melissa Thuon. Our principal, Dana Harrison, our school counselor, Jonathan Torregrosa, our Data Leader, Marci Briones, and our IB coordinator, Holli Bishop. We also will work with the new education coordinator at Walking Mountains Science Center, Dustin Hall, to provide ideas on how we can collaborate with parents and Walking Mountains to enhance our IB Program. A particular parent with a Special needs student who is willing to join us to share her family’s experiences with other parents and how the IB Program has enhanced her child’s learning.
