Using the AAH Digital Image Database
What is the AAH Digital Image Database?
Usually referred to as "MDID," which stands for the Madison Digital Image Database, so named because it was developed at James Madison University as an open source digital image database system specifically geared to teaching with images. MDID is used by colleges and universities around the country to house individual institutions' collections of digital images.
At Colgate, MDID is now known as the AAH Digital Image Database (AAHDID). It houses a continually growing online digital image collection, administered by Visual Resources in the Department of Art. It currently contains over 186,000 images available to all Colgate users, as well as over 14,000 images from personal research collections across campus, documenting art and architecture from around the world and from prehistory to the present.
How do I use it?
Access AAHDID at Colgate at http://mdid.colgate.edu. You will need to log on with your Colgate user ID and password.
For detailed instructions, see the User's Manual. There is also a growing set of video tutorials on our YouTube channel.
