ARTstor has been working with Cornell University to make available more than 6.600 images, the bulk of which come from the work of Robert D. "Scotty" MacDougall (1940–1987), former Professor of Architecture at Cornell University, as well as an anthropologist and practicing architect. These photographs depict significant works of architecture, pilgrimage sites, cultural traditions, and rituals in South Asia, from the monasteries of Ladakh to the temples of Tamil Nadu.
