Students choose to complete the course curriculum with materials provided by the school with the understanding that the materials are the property of the school district and not the property of the student. Therefore, assignments and projects created as part of the class curriculum must remain at school unless they are purchased from the school for the actual cost.
It is also recommended that students bring the following to class daily for inclass instruction:
1. Every Day school supplies- Binder, paper, pen
2. Tape measure
3. Calculator
4. Personal Protective Equipment
Protective Clothing: Students are required to wear closed toed shoes and pants (no shorts or sandals allowed). Students will be given a zero for their participation grade every day they show up for class not properly dressed. Students can purchase the following: Gloves, safety glasses, coveralls, or even a welding hood. These things are provided for the students; however, some may wish to purchase their own. Fresno Oxygen on Clovis and Gettysburg Avenues is a great place to go. Welding hoods are expensive and I recommend that students use one of the Ag departments unless they are sure that they will be taking more Ag Engineering classes and becoming very active in welding.
Cost of tools and equipment: The cost of lost or damaged tools or damaged equipment is the largest expense. Students will be disciplined for intentionally damaging anything in the shop. Tools may never be taken onto the main campus or home.
FFA / SAE / Community Service / Leadership Opportunities: Students are required to participate in 4 FFA activities, 2 per semester. Students may choose from a list provided by the teacher during the school year. This will count for 10% of your grade.
