Discus & Shot

"Relax and Make them have to beat you.

Resume: Has been coaching since 1994 and has been coaching at Buchanan since 1995.

Experience: Competed in High school in the Discus, Shot, 4 x 100, 4 x 400 at Bullard and Hoover high schools, then went on to compete in Discus and Shot at Fresno State.

Uniqueness: You have to relax.  It's as much a mental competition as a physical one. You have to believe you belong. Make your competitors beat you. Don't give it away.

Favorite Memory: Many years ago we had a girl thrower who was also a soccer goalie. I'm not sure why I was not near the discus area at the time, but I remember her running across the field so happy to tell me she had qualified for area. She would never be a star or compete beyond the area meet, but she was so proud of what she had accomplished. I'll always remember her running across the field yelling to let me know.

Resume: Has been coaching Pole Vault at Buchanan High School since 2001.

Experience: Played Football, Soccer, Track and Baseball at Lemoore HS.  Then competed in track in the event of pole vault at Fresno State.
