In 2023, Hilton Green was the sixth Buchanan Bear to win a gold medal at the California State Track & Field Championship by winning the pole vault at 16' 6".  Hilton's points help contribute with 7 other boys to score 30 points and taking 3rd place in the State Championship Team title.  

In 2021, the CIF decided to cancel its hosting of the State Championship due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.  Despite the challenges of this pandemic, Bo competed in a State Championship held on the campus of Arcadia High School.  Only the top 40 times in California were able to compete.  Bo beat all other competitors in the 800m becoming the 5th State Champion in School History.

In 2019 Shelby Daniele was the third Buchanan Bear to win a gold medal at the California State Track & Field Championship by winning the 200 meters.  Shelby's points help contribute with 6 other girls to win the first ever Girls State Championship in Track & Field in the Central Valley in 2019.  

In 2015, Hannah Waller was the second Buchanan Bear and the first female Bear to win a gold medal at the California State Track & Field Championship by winning the 400 meters.

In 2002, Kyle Alcorn was the first Buchanan Bear to win a gold medal at the California State Track & Field Championship by winning the 3200 meters.
