Roger Harris Scholarship--$1000 scholarship to Crest High senior who plan to attend a four year college/university in the fall. Coach Chris Melton Memorial Scholarship--$2500 scholarship to Crest High senior athlete. Commercial Bank "Spirit" Scholarship--Crest High can submit one senior for a $500 scholarship. Applicant should have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be eligible for either free/reduced lunch and/or the Pell Grant, and be involved in at least two extra-curricular activities. To apply, submit a minimum 500 word essay to Mrs. Francis by March 23. State Employees Credit Union "People Helping People"--$10,000 (payable $1,250 per semester) for seniors planning to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the UNC System. This scholarship is only available to seniors who are either members of SECU or the child of a parent/guardian who is a member of SECU. Applicants must be a US Citizen and a resident of NC. They must have a minimum 2.5 unweighted GPA and have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement. Instructions to apply are attached to this email. The Clare Johnson Marley-Mary Earle Berger Fine Arts Scholarship -open to any student who is currently graduating from an accredited public high school in North Carolina and who expects to enroll in a four-year college or university next fall, and who is declaring as his/her major in an area of the fine arts. North Carolina Alpha Delta Kappa Student Achievement Scholarship-- $2000 and is open to a male or female, on track to graduate and planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college or university. Specific eligibility requirements are: SAT score of 990 to 1130 or ACT composite score of 20 to 24; unweighted GPA of 2.5 to 3.5; good character, integrity, leadership potential and service to school, community and church. Cecilia Music Club--For seniors in Cleveland County. Scholarship is to be used for private music lessons while in college. Students do not have to major in music. Audition is required. NC Extension & Community Association--scholarship to NC youth and adults who are pursuing a college education in North Carolina. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students in obtaining a degree at any North Carolina college, in any field of study, with priority given to Family and Consumer Sciences. Priority will also be given to students who have connection or involvement with Cooperative Extension Service. Application is attached and is available in the guidance office. Horatio Alger Scholarship--scholarships available to seniors who plan to attend college. Applicant should have financial need (less than $100,00 family income), be involved in community activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. There are applications specific to High Point University, one for students going into a STEM major, and for children of wounded or deceased Marines. Dover Scholarship--scholarship available to seniors who attend Cleveland County School System high schools. This is a merit-based scholarship that is awarded based on class rank, academic achievements, leadership, and activities. There will be 12 scholarships given. The scholarships will be allocated as follows: two ($20,000), five ($15,000), and five ($10,000). Of the 12 recipients, four will attend Gardner-Webb University and eight will attend any other accredited 4 year college or university. College you plan to attend must be indicated on the scholarship application.
Application is attached. Please be sure to type your application. All responses MUST be on the application (no separate activities resume) The application requires an essay that can be typed on a separate page and attached to the application. Application, essay, and 2 letters of recommendation (1 must be from school personnel and 1 must be from community contact) are due to Mrs. Francis February 20.

Pitch Contest Entrepreneur Scholarship--$1000 to a Crest graduating senior who has a business idea. For more information and to apply, see the attached application. You will present your business idea in a "Shark Tank" type presentation. Application must be completed and emailed by March 14.
Next NC Scholarship--a financial aid program that helps most NC households making $80,000 or less pursue higher education. Students attending a community college can receive $3000 per year. Those attending a public university in NC can get a minimum of $5000 per year. The application is the FAFSA. Go to fafsa.gov to apply. Deadline is June 1 for UNC system universities and August 15 for NC community colleges.
Michael A. Demayo--$5000 scholarship for senior planning to attend college. Program includes one-on-one mentorship, professional networking, internship access, a summer symposium, and college tuition awards up to $5000 per year. NC Teaching Fellows--a competitive, merit-based forgivable loans for service program that provides up to $10,000 a year for up to four years to highly-qualified students committed to teaching special education, elementary education, or a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) in a NC public, traditional, or charter school. Applicant must be accepted to an approved educator preparation program at one of the Teaching Fellows partner institutions (Appalachian State, East Carolina, Elon, Fayetteville State, Meredith, NC A&T, NC State, Chapel Hill, UNC Charlotte, UNC Pembroke), have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 and are encouraged to submit SAT/ACT scores. Lyceum Scholars--for Clemson University. Lyceum Scholars study the moral, political, and economic foundations of a free society and receive scholarships worth up to $60,000 which are distributed over their four years at Clemson University. Elks Foundation Nursing Scholarship--$1000 scholarship for student planning to enroll in a North Carolina nursing program which leads to a RN degree. The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship--UNC Chapel Hill offers the Thomas Wolfe Scholarship which offers full undergraduate support for student writers. Goodnight Scholars--From NC State University for $24,000 per year. For NC students of middle-income families who intend to major in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, & math) discipline. To be considered for this program, students must submit their general NC State application by November 1. NC State will issue invitations to 1200 students who apply by November 1. If you do not receive an invitation, you can self-nominate through the Special Circumstances Form in WolfPaw by December 1st. Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship--for high achieving seniors with financial need. Morehead-Cain--UNC Chapel Hill offers the Morehead-Cain Foundation Scholarship. This is a highly competitive merit scholarship that offers four years of undergraduate work at UNC Chapel Hill. Applicants must demonstrate scholarship, leadership, moral force of character, and physical vigor. A Morehead-Cain Scholar is also bright, collaborative, self-aware, brave, purposeful, empathetic, optimistic, and original. The school nomination process took place in May. Levine Scholars--UNC Charlotte offers a merit based scholarship for full tuition, room, board, and fees. Applicants should have outstanding academic records, demonstrate a commitment to community service, and possess a capacity for ethical leadership. Applicants can self-nominate or be nominated by their high school by October 15. If you would like to be considered for a school nomination, let Mrs. Francis know by October 10. Park Scholarship--NC State University offers the Park Scholarship. This is a four-year scholarship valued at $124,000 and includes tuition, room and board, books, travel, personal expenses, and more.
