MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Burns Middle School Athletic Department is to reflect and support the mission and beliefs of Burns Middle School. Burns Middle School Athletic Department is committed to operate a department, which meets the recognized standards of excellent set forth by Cleveland County Schools (CCS), the Tri-County Conference, and the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA). Burns Middle School Athletics shares a common value and purpose by an environment that will nurture and demonstrate INTEGRITY, PRIDE, DIVERSITY, LEADERSHIP, and SPORTSMANSHIP. Burns Middle School Athletics contributes to the community of learners at Burns Middle School and demonstrates it's mission in the following ways:

• BMS Athletics is committed to academic integrity and demonstrates the prioritization of academics above athletics.

• BMS Athletics support ethical coaching standards that are demonstrated through staff education and monitoring activities.

• BMS Athletics supports an environment of equity and diversity in which all students and staff members are provided the support and resources necessary for success.

PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy of Burns Middle School Athletics is to develop a program, which focuses on the school as well as the standards of amateurism and fair play as set forth by Cleveland County Schools (CCS), the Tri-County Conference, and the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) is maintained.

Burns Middle School Athletic Department is committed to an environment, which emphasizes the total education of its student-athletes and sustains it's commitment to enhance the physical well-being, emotional growth, and academic success of its student-athletes.
