TERM 6-THE VIETNAM WAR

Firstly, thank you for all your efforts last term. We find ourselves in a historic situation that is challenging in so many ways, so thank you for your efforts and your parents support.

Following on from America's attempt to contain Communism in Korea, this term you will be studying the Vietnam war.

This page contains the resources for this term in the subpage links below, but this term they are divided into CORE and CHALLENGE tasks set by your teacher. CORE will provide you with a good level of facts and understanding of the key aspects of the Vietnam War. CHALLENGE contains more in-depth factual information about the Vietnam War and more difficult lines of questioning. If you have been set CORE work and would like to investigate aspects of the conflict in more detail then you can find them in the CHALLENGE section.

These tasks will use the GCSE textbook, but will not always involve answering the questions in the book, sometimes you will be asked to produce a diagram or table so please take note of the tasks your teacher is setting you. They may also provide documentaries and short clips to help your understanding.

Please take note of the following to help your home learning.

  • Although it says 'Mr S Ingram' by the resources, these are uploaded by him, the work is for everyone, not just his classes.

  • There are 17 key lessons on Vietnam and your teacher will guide you on which tasks to do each week in line with your normal lessons (3 per week+homework). Make sure to plan out your work so that you are not left with too many tasks to complete at once. This could lead to an increase in stress and we are all very wary of supporting your mental health at this time.

  • You should aim to begin your answer with the wording of the questions, not only is this good exam practice, it will help you understand your notes better when it comes to revision.

  • Remember to use SPED-y knowledge and connectives. It is vital to your success in this subject and the more precise the detail, the better your responses. Connectives also show a developed understanding of an event and give your answers a clearer structure.
