Come to as many Monday morning meeting times as possible and practice times arranged by email.
Use your intervention time to study each of the history.com topic sites. Change the paragraphs into question format. Each topic on history.com was covered during the National Finals of the History Bowl in D.C. Use note cards to write these questions down.
Take the Ultimate History Quiz and Lunch Quiz as much as possible on the History.com website. Read these aloud to yourself as you take the quizzes. This will help you remember the topics and related words. If you do not know how to pronounce the words you may have to type them into the computer for pronunciation. The more you know how to pronounce in the question the more you will remember. As we have more people attend the practice sessions, we will have partners work together to challenge each other. We will try to write the questions down as they come up to use for a later time in practice sessions.
Have the daily email sent to you and/or read the "This Day in History" subjects to help you practice on a daily.
Encourage others to come to practice sessions and to stay on task. This can be a fun competition as the successful outcome will create a future bond.
We will try to set up "buzzer" competitions as soon as we have enough people show up for practice sessions. We will also have team building sessions on some evenings outside of the school.
Be positive about your abilities and work together as a team. We have the ability to compete against anyone if we put forth the effort.
