Program Goals

The Fox Chapel Area School District will...

1. Provide effective, standards-aligned instruction for English Learners (ELs) in Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening.

2. Implement instructional approaches and curriculum to move all ELs toward English Language proficiency.

3. Ensure all ELs have access to content area curriculum and can progress in proficiency in those subjects.

4. Annually assess students for English Language proficiency using the ACCESS for ELLs standardized assessment.

5. Provide content area teachers with instructional strategies to address the unique needs of ELs.

6. Provide translation services for teachers and parents.

7. Provide opportunities for parents to communicate and connect to the schools.

8. Annually evaluate the effectiveness of the district ELD program and make adjustments as needed.

9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date information regarding the Language Instruction Educational Program.
