Meet the Director

Mr. Benjamin Murray has taught music in the Fox Chapel Area School District for 8 years. He previously taught in the Greater Latrobe School District in Latrobe, PA for 4 years. A graduate of Duquesne University, he was awarded the Outstanding Music Education Student Award. In August 2017, he completed his M.M. in Conducting from Michigan State University, having studied with Dr. David Rayl and Dr. Jonathan Reed. He has also participated in the Choral Music Experience with Dr. Sandra Snow and Lee Kesselman. Mr. Murray is an active member of both PMEA: Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and ACDA: American Choral Directors Association and served as the PMEA District 1 President from 2017-2019. He was recognized by the American Choral Directors Association of Pennsylvania as the 2012 Young Conductor of the Year. His ensembles have performed at ACDA-PA and PMEA conferences and have consistently received superior ratings at adjudication. Mr. Murray has performed with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra Chamber Singers, the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, and Voces Solis.
