The Media Center is a place to find information, ideas, and inspiration. It is also a classroom. The Archdiocesan Library Guidelines are taught to all grades. Preschool and Pre-4s ) visit the Media Center each week. K to 3rd grade visit once a week and are able to check out a book for approximately one week. In the primary grades, there is an emphasis on learning how to use the Media Center and library vocabulary. Manipulatives are used to reinforce the students understanding of the curriculum. In grades 5th through 8th research and evaluating websites is emphasis. Noodletools is used extensively for outlines, research, and thesis statements Students in these grades check out books for approximately two weeks. TEN SCHOOL MEDIA CENTER SKILLS OBJECTIVES I. To learn school library media center manners. II. To practice following directions. III. To practice listening skills. IV. To learn to take care of books. V. To learn the layout of the school library media center. VI. To learn to check out books. VII. To learn to identify the parts of the book and other school library media center terms. VIII. To learn to use the Dewey Decimal System to locate books/materials in our media center. IX. To Reinforce classroom curriculum items. X. To learn to use computers to locate information from various resources on the Internet. Consequences I believe that students make a choice when they come in the door whether or not they will follow the rules. If a student chooses not to follow the rules, they choose to take on one or more of the following consequences: Each student is allowed two verbal warning per class period. A verbal warning occurs any time that Mrs. Bradley has to stop what she is saying or doing to tell talk to a student. The third time Mrs. Bradley has to stop then she will sign their white card located in their homework assignment notebook or ask them to move their clothespins down.
