Each week we have a different virtue that we will focus on. We use the "Daily Virtue" podcast on the Hallow App to listen to a short clip about what this virtue is, how we use, and how we spot others using the virtue both at home and at school.Â
So far we have learned about:
affability: being friendly, easy to talk to, and easy to approach
respect: (part of the cardinal virtue of justice); treating others the way they deserve; speaking and acting according to our own, and others, rights, status, and circumstances; remembering that others deserve to be loved and honoured
perseverance: (part of the cardinal virtue of fortitude) taking the steps necessary to carry out a goal in spite of difficulties; not giving up even when it is difficult
modesty: purity of heart and action, especially in regards to dress and speech; putting God at the centre instead of yourself
self-control: being in control of our emotions and the things that we want
We are blessed to have access to this amazing faith resource. Families can access it at home using your student's google login. There are great things to explore such as podcasts, music and saint stories about the Catholic faith. Here are the login details if you need help accessing the app/website (I suggest to login with Google):
Our religion program follows the Growing in Faith resource. Each week we build on our learnign about the faith, saints and prayer through a variety of activities and lessons. Here is what we are learning about this month:
What makes us part of a community?
How do others help us live out the beatitudes?
How can prayer help me grow in relationship with God and with others?
Who is Mary and why is she important to us?
October is the month of the rosary - What is the rosary? How do we pray it? What other prayers can we use to ask Mary to pray for us?
