StatCounter
Here's one of many free online web site or web page hit counters that you can easily add and monitor to your Google Site.
1. Go to http://statcounter.com to create a free account.

using StatCounter for your Google Site.
2. Once logged in you will be able to create as many counters as you wish. Look for the New Project link to begin the process.
3. Simply work your way though the setup wizard to create your counter. Note... You will need to have the URL of your website, or individual web page, at the ready.
4. Once completed, a unique embed code will be generated for you to place on your website or individual web page. For more detailed information about embed codes go to my Working With Embed Codes video.
Here's an example of what the web counter would look like. I have also turned on the Public View of stats (an option you will find in the setup).
