Sites: Add a Twitter Feed

Follow these instructions to add your Twitter Feed to your Google Site:

  • Open Notepad (Start>All Programs>Accessories>Notepad) and paste this code (highlight it and then do ctrl+C):

  • Go to your Twitter page and click on the "gear" at the top right
  • Choose Settings
  • Click on Widgets in the list of settings and choose Create New
  • Your Twitter handle (username) should appear and you can choose any other options and click Save
  • Highlight the code and copy (ctrl+C)
  • Go back to Notepad and paste the code in place of the purple text above.
  • Save the file as an .xml (File>Save As>Name it Twitter.xml and change file type from .txt to All Files)
  • Go to your Google Site. Click on the "gear" and choose Manage Site
  • Click on Attachments and click Upload
  • Navigate to Twitter.xml and click Upload
  • After it has uploaded, right click on "download" and choose "copy link address"
  • Go to the page where you want your Twitter feed and click the "pencil" to edit
  • Go to Insert>Gadget>More Gadgets
  • Click on Add Gadget by URL
  • Paste the link and adjust the pixels (I chose width 500 and height 1000, with a scroll bar and no label)
  • Click OK.
  • You will need to click Save before you can view what it will look like live.

Follow these instructions to set your Twitter feed as your home page.

  • Go to your Google Site. Click on the "gear" and choose Manage Site
  • Click change and choose the page that has your Twitter feed
  • Click Ok
  • Click Save
