What does it mean "to adorn?" What is adornment? (Reference a dictionary and thesaurus.)
What are some examples of ways that you adorn yourself? How do you decide what to put on your face or body? What about your bedroom or locker? What is the purpose or meaning to you?
What are some of the unspoken rules of adornment? How does it relate to the human desire for belonging, to inclusion or exclusion?
What are some examples of adornment you would not put on your face or body? Why?
Consider various subcultures in America and their habits of adornment. (e.g. punks, Bears fans, Mennonites, etc.) Consider various traditions or ceremonies (e.g. weddings) and the associated rules of adornment. (Note the relationship of color.)
What does it mean to adhere to or violate the norms of adornment? (For example, consider what an American bride often wears to their wedding. Would it be a problem if they chose to wear a pair of paint splattered overalls? Why or why not?)
What is the relationship between adornment and fashion. Do you adorn yourself now as you did when you were nine? Or two years ago? Why or why not?
