March 29th (Sunday) 1:30 AM
I have two choices at the moment – go to Iguana, the bar next door, and dance for the next 2 hours or hang out in my room and read or write. Considering I’m at the end of my party rope I’m choosing the latter. The party at Kate’s this evening was great. About 30 people showed up. I immediately ran into Lisa, whom I first met in October 2007 and haven’t seen since. She works for a charity that supports smart technologies and solutions for Africa and therefore knows and helps promote Dr Moses Musaazi and Technology for Tomorrow (www.t4tafrica.com). Some of you are probably familiar with my work with Moses. If not then you might want to check out his website or get a few stories out of me later.
I also ran into a girl named Meghan at the party who says she knows me from a year ago – but I can’t remember from where. She seemed pretty forgiving about it. As the evening progressed I got the opportunity to talk with another one of my housemates. I’ve run into her a few times, but not enough to remember her name until now. Her name is Ann and she’s a young Asian-American girl, under 5 feet by a few inches. I can’t remember now what she’s doing in Uganda (must have been a goof party), but she seems to be enjoying herself and is very interested in The Journey. I’ll try and catch up with her in a more quiet setting some time.
I learned a little more about Ryan and Stephanie this evening in the cab ride home. Aside from their obvious adventures they are both working to build self sustainable schools. Ryan is coordinating with the Clinton Foundation and is working to build a school south of Kampala and north of the airport – somewhere in Entebbe around the equator I would imagine. Stephanie is building a school in Kenya and has raised $100,000 so far with another $200,000 to go. She also has started a fair trade business that makes purses from recycled materials. They both asking for my help on how to do this and I’m wishing Jo Noble was here. I need to email her soon. Last but not least - - I may have a lead on a woman from Wisconsin that is coming at the end of May and could bring peace banners and letters from Tajali and Donna. I’ll hopefully know more in a few days.
