What is the Watch D.O.G.S. Dads program?

The Watch D.O.G. Dads program nationally recognized volunteer program designed to bring more male volunteers in schools. This program is a part of the Dads of Great Students (Watch D.O.G. Dads of America. Watch D.O.G.S. are fathers, step-fathers, uncles, grandfathers, or other father figures that commit to volunteering at least one day a year in our school. A day as a Watch D.O.G.S. Dad

On the day of participation, Watch D.O.G.S. report to the front office wearing their Watch D.O.G.S. shirt, so that they are easily identifiable. They spend their day greeting students and helping with morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, participating in morning announcements, reading to students, supporting our young performers in art, music, and during physical education class, playing at recess, eating lunch with students, helping teachers with special projects, and monitoring entrances and hallways. They also have some special time with their own kids, but spend most of the day helping and mentoring other students. At the end of the day

Program Benefits

• Schools gain an extra set of eyes and ears with the presence of a father-figure enhances a sense of security at the building for students and staff and helps create an environment conducive to learning.
• Fathers get a glimpse of their students’ everyday world and learn about the increasingly complex challenges and decisions today’s youth are facing.
• Students gain a positive male role model. Many students do not have a father-figure present in their home and these students benefit when a positive male role model is present.

Sign-Up Today!

Participation is easy! Just complete the following steps:

1. Complete the online Woodard Watch D.O.G.S. Registration and Training Form

2. Once you've completed the registration and training form, you will be directed to sign up for date to volunteer. You will receive a confirmation email once you have selected your volunteer date. Included in the email you will also receive a copy of your schedule for the day. See a sample daily schedule below. Be sure to report to the front office at 8:10AM. The front office personnel will scan your driver's license as a part of our security screening process.

3. Order your Watch D.O.G.S. Shirt.

4. Once you've completed the registration and training form, ordered, received approval from the community engagement office, and received your t-shirt then you are volunteer. Watch D.O.G.S. will begin volunteering September 14th.
