Project Based Learning: Farm to Table

This year we decided to engage in a project with a special focus. Students were asked to explore two questions:

How can WE make our community a healthier place?

How can WE use our ABILITIES to make a difference?

We studied nutrition and learned about whole versus processed foods. The students planted tomatoes and lettuce and decided to make a homegrown meal for their friends at school.

During this project, we also learned about other teenagers and adults who have used their talents and abilities to pursue careers and interests. Meet Jamie Winters, a local resident who overcame physical challenges to create her own jewelry and card business called MiaBellaRose. Jamie now visits our class on a regular basis and inspires the students to keep dreaming and achieving.
