As I start another year at Byron School District and reflect on my personal story, I am just grateful to be here surrounded by amazing colleagues, students, and families. Rich and I continue to live in Byron, one of the most caring and generous communities, raising our two children. We are appreciative of the acceptance, kindness, and friendship offered to us.
The past year has been a difficult one for me personally, but I have learned a lot about myself and grown in the process. One of the most important lessons I have learned over the last year is to live with a grateful attitude. If a person can be thankful during adversity it is easier to see the goodness that exists, and we are surrounded by so much goodness. Sometimes it can be difficult to see, but if you challenge yourself to look for it each and every day you will find it. It is this philosophy that I hope to bring to my job this year.
