Writing can be very intimidating for kids, so here are some easy tips:
Writing can be very intimidating for kids, so here are some easy tips:
Provide a quiet space for your child to write
Keep it fun with a variety of supplies nearby (colored pencils, crayons, markers, paper, envelopes)
Read, read, read! Exposing your child to rich vocabulary in books will help your child develop their own writing!
Model writing for your child (grocery lists, mail a letter, keep a journal)
Your talented little WRITER will publish many stories this year and as they do, we will celebrate their hard work! We will be exploring many different genres this year. Writing in second grade begins as a shared process between the teacher and your child. Your child will learn many new skills, develop a variety of resources and tools to help support their writing, and increase their confidence as the year progresses. Naturally, your child will begin to write more independently as a result. As your child's teacher, we will check-in with your child, support them when needed, set some goals, and celebrate their hard work!
