Attendance, Tardiness: Attendance and timeliness are expected. Please see the Student Handbook for the official policy. Please send in a doctor’s note to get absences excused.
Missed Exams or Assignments: Missed exams and assignments can be made up. All homework is due the day the student returns to school. All missed tests must be taken within two days of returning to school.
Class Participation: Students are encouraged to be active participants in the classroom in whatever way is appropriate to them. Participation helps the students to learn and apply what they have learned and practice communication skills needed for life and future careers. Participation also helps the teacher assess the student. Participation does not have a formal grade in this class, but is observed and noted by the teacher.
Grading Policy
Homework: as per district policy, homework is graded for completeness, not for accuracy.
Class work, quizzes, and tests are averaged together based on IEP goals.
Midterm and final exams are non-cumulative; they are based on the latest unit only.
Report card grades are based on progress in IEP goals as per the district self-contained grading scale.
Grading Scale for the Self-Contained Classes
This grading system will assess the students in the self-contained classes while showing grades that adhere to IEPs.
Notes:
The grades are automatically converted to numbers in the PowerSchool system so that the students will have a generated GPA for graduation. The grades are in parenthesis under “Grade Points”.
