Welcome to Psychology at Budehaven school online support site.

The main purpose of this site is as a resource for students.

The idea is that you use to aid your learning and  revision for the AQA Psychology course that are currently studying at Budehaven School. But also to show you a wider range of psychology that is out there.

Remember you A level course is just a taster of what psychology has to offer!

The site will grow over time and will have an increasing range of areas for you to explore.

If you got any good ideas for thing to add or ways we could make this site more effective then please email at

Answer to a students question on Pavlov's dog.

Ok so it may be half term but before we broke up a student asked me a question on something the I had never thought about before, namely "What dogs did they use in Pavlov's famous 1904 study?"

I did not have an answer at the time but I do now!

This question has clearly been asked by a student before in the states as I have found this great article which answers the question well and was publish at the USA's legendary museum the Smithsonian!

The chance to take part in the "lessons for Auschwitz" project

added 16/12/2015

2 students have a the opportunity to go to Auschwitz, the infamous concentration camp, as part of a international scheme to support people in accessing the important lessons that we can learn from the Holocaust.

Click here to be taken to link about Plymouth students who have taken part in this previously

Hi all, I have just been given an opportunity for 2 students from psychology to take part in a project which looks at the holocaust, something we look at in the social influence topic. It runs during March, so you would need to be available on Sunday the 13th, Wednesday 16th and Tuesday 22nd.

It involves you attended a half day preparation course in Exeter, then flying out from Exeter for a one day to auschwitz, then returning to Exeter to do a half day prep day before carrying out some form of feedback to people within the school about your experience.

It costs just £59 which is heavily subsidised cost and would be available for just 2 students.  So if you are interested in coming please let me know ASAP. I expect quite a few of you would like to go so I will require you to email me 500 words on what you think you will gain from going in order to help me pick who is most suitable. Closing date will be the 3rd of January so that I can sort through them on the 4th and tell the lucky candidates then so that we can get our application sent off by the end of the school week.

It is a limited place project and requires commitment from you, meaning that once signed up you will need to do everything you can to ensure that you attend. Also you will need to pay the £59 at the point we apply for the places so will need to have the funds in place to do this.

Any questions then please ask,

Yours

Mr Kavanagh
