The Board understands the logistics of modern families and will try to accommodate transportation service to a caregiver’s residence where there is no extra cost to the Board and it is does not interfere with their liability insurance coverage. You must register annually for Transportation to Caregiver.
The following procedures must be followed if you are requesting to ride a bus to a caregiver's residence in a rural area of our division.

Understand that bussing is subject to availability, and space is limited. Transportation privileges may be revoked if space availability becomes an issue.
There will be no deviation off route to accommodate such arrangements.
Ineligible passengers are defined as those students residing less than 1.0 km for grades K-6 or 2.0 km for grades 7-12 by roadway or public right of way from their designated school pursuant to Section 51 (3) of the School Act. All ineligible passengers are required to pay a fee.
Eligible passengers are defined as those students residing 1.0 km or more for grades K-6 or 2.0 km or more for grades 7-12 by roadway or public right of way from their designated school pursuant to Section 51 (3) of the School Act. Eligible passengers registered on one bus, riding on another bus to a caregiver’s residence will also be required to pay a fee.
Students who are not registered in a program at a school will not be able to access Transportation to Caregiver’s Residence. For example, if a preschool child attends a preschool or day-care attached to a public or catholic school where buses already pick up and drop off students they would not be eligible for school bus transportation.
Students who are registered in program at a school, but who do not attend full time, will only be provided this service during the days they are registered to attend school. For example, an ECS student who is a registered student in a school would only be able to ride the bus on those days they are scheduled to attend the ECS program.
Students who ride two different buses to/from home and to/from the caregiver's will be assessed a fee for the second bus if they are eligible on their home bus as you are booking a seat on the second bus that can no longer be accessed by another student. The division is only funded once per student and school bus contractors are paid per student. If you are ineligible from your home stop, then you will be required to pay a fee for each bus.
Payment (if applicable) must be received before bussing service begins. Payment plans are available, and you can pay by cash, cheque, money order or we now have the option to pay online or by e-transfer. See information at the bottom of the red column on the left for payment option details.
