Participation Policy:
All students are expected to participate in Physical Education class every day.
To be excused from participation for a medical reason, students must have a note or an email from a parent/caregiver, the school nurse, or a medical provider
If you do not participate in a class, there will be a non-participation form (linked here) for student to fill out that will need to be acknowledged and signed by a parent or caregiver
Note: Athletes who skip or sit out of PE may not be allowed to participate in after-school sports that day.
Dress Code & Other Policies
Students are encouraged to wear athletic clothing to PE class. This means:
Try to bring in or wear athletic clothing suited for both indoor and outdoor activities. Keep extra clothes (t-shirt, sweatshirt, shorts, athletic pants/leggings) in a locker if possible
This year, all students are required to wear sneakers/close-toed shoes. Sandals/high heels/flip flops/or Crocs will not be allowed this year. You can also choose to leave them in gym locker rooms if you wish
Bathroom policy. You must ask a teacher to use the bathroom. This year, all students will use the locker room bathrooms or the gender neutral bathroom in gym lobby, or any one the single use bathrooms (in the office or in the library). One student at a time in each bathroom.
Phones, loose jewelry, backpacks or any other electronic device should not be brought to class.
No food (including gum) or drinks, with the exception of water bottles are allowed inside of the gym. Please put your name on your water bottle.
Tardies/Skips - All students are expected to be INSIDE of the gym by the late bell. More than 2 unexcused tardies will result in a callback/communication home. Skipping class will result in a callback immediately.
Grading
.Please click here to find our PE rubric by which your student will be graded. This will be posted to schoology and updated at the end of each unit. Please note there is 3 categories, with 2 subcategories within the first category of Habits of Work and Learning (HOWLs).
