The Class of 1991 is sad to report the death of Jim Hall, teammate, classmate, fraternity brother, alum and friend to many. He passed away on November 20 in Pontiac, MI.

Sharon Loferski Engler moved from Seattle clear across the country to Martha's Vineyard with her five children and husband, Bill. Her children are Gus (age 12), Rose (age 10), Owen (age 9), Jack (age 4), and Lucy (age 1and Special Needs). They are thrilled to be living on the Island as Sharon is home with the children and teaching as an adjunct Professor and Bill works as a branding strategy consultant.

Nikki Pliner Berman and her husband, Bernie (Lehigh '92) are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Zoey Jayne. Zoey, her parents, and big brother, Zach, live in Armonk, NY and would love to hear from Brown friends.

Matthew Specter's first book, Jürgen Habermats: An Intellectual Biography will be published by Cambridge University Press in Fall 2010. Matt and his wife are eager to meet up with other Brown alums in New Haven.

Eric Bommer is the busy but proud father of three beautiful youngsters: Mackay (5), Reese (4), and Lachlan (2).

Leora Tanebaum's new book, "Bad Shoes and the Women Who Love Them" went on sale on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9th, 2010.

Maureen Fareen McCracken and her husband, Reed ('89 / MAT '90), just purchased CCOutdoorStore.com, an online store that stocks and sells high quality gifts and gear for outdoor enthusiasts. Lowa and Zamberlan boots, Crescent Moon and Redfeather Snowshoes, Gregory and GoLite backpacks, Deuter and Sherpani baby carriers, and much much more!

The business has had a strong internet presence for 10 years and they hope to usher it out of last year's difficult economic climate into a new era of thriving sales. In the meantime they are thankful for the steady business and great customers that they do have, and of course picking out gear and toys for themselves!

Kids Kate (7) and Grant (5) are doing great and learning how to use the tape gun! Looking forward to seeing people at reunion!

Kumar Pandley went back to Nepal after graduation to start working in its nascent hydropower industry. In the past 18 years, Nepal has undergone exciting and profound social and political changes. The country’s situation is still fluid and daily life remains chaotic— no electricity for most of the day, no safe drinking water supply, long gas lines, and serious political unrest.

Despite all of this, I enjoy being in my homeland. I returned to the US in 2004 as a Fulbright Scholar and earned an MBA. I then started a company, Hydro Solutions, www.hydro-solutions.org that employs over 50 people. We do engineering and investment in hydropower business. I'm finally building a house for my wife, Sangita, and children, Ajita and Ajit.

I always enjoy geting back in touch with Brown Alumni. So, for those making their way to Nepal, make sure you connect with me while you are here. Our family would love to host you in our new home in Kathmandu!!

Chelsea Carlson Payne manages a department at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.

Corey Robertson '95 MD is the director of emerging infectious diseases at the New Jersey Department of Health.

In October, L. Oliver Robinson, who serves as a superintendent of schools in upstate New York, was appointed the first African American to serve as the president of the New York State Council of School Superintendents. Oliver and his wife, Tammy Ellis-Robinson '92, have three children: Oliver III, 12, Erik, 10, and Geneive, 7. Oliver recently joined Rodney Vincent for an NBA game. They both look forward to hearing from Brown friends.

Amy Carden Suardi writes that she is excited about launching a new blog called Frugal Mama (frugal-mama.com), where she writes about solutions that save money and make life better. She and her husband, Enrico, now live in Manhattan with their three children. She writes: "While it can be tough to be a frugal mama here (as opposed to a profligate single), the city is full of life, and I love connecting with classmates like Melissa Levis, Nadine Shubailat, Chris Tingue, and Kate Murphy Zeman." Bonnie Youn is an immigration attorney in Georgia. She married Frank E. McDonald, a chemistry professor at Emory Univ., on May 16 in Atlanta, where they reside.
