Analysis of Atmospheric Precursor Anomalies Associated with Earthquake Events: Role of Machine Learning Tilak Mukherjee, Kushal Roy pp. 1-7

Abstract

This paper investigates the signature effects of earthquake (EQ) seismic activities on the lower atmospheric levels mainly in the troposphere region. Significant changes and anomalies in temperature, relative humidity, and radio refractive index profiles are observed in most of these seismic events prior to the impending event and after the event, thereby providing a precursor method to predict the occurrence of EQ in the concerned zones. Temperature and relative humidity anomalies with their analysis using electromagnetic signals have been considered in this review work pertaining to the field of communication engineering. In this context, a better understanding of the precursory signals involving seismic complex dynamics based on tropospheric conditions associated with such devastating events and prediction with machine learning knowledge is very important.

AR & VR - An Approach towards a Smarter and Better Education SystemAnurag Mondal, Liza Rozariopp. 15-19

Abstract

Education is one of the most important components of social infrastructure in India. Despite of our best efforts in the educational system, developments still remain at an unexceptionally depressing level. Financial Crisis is one among the main problems. University, professional and technical education have become beyond the reach of a common man in India. Even now 35 percent people remain illiterate being quite at a dismal position. Most students leave the college before even completing the course which leads to a lot of waste of resource. Lack of educational and technological resources in rural areas also leads to illiteracy. Centralisation of education can also be blamed for this as it causes a lot of distraction to students and does not provide much points and factors of interests to put an urge and excitement in the mind of the students for education. Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) can bridge the gap between the digital and physical worlds. One can imagine oneself being transported into an immersing world that shuts out all kinds of distraction, free of any kind of limitations where your imaginations are the possibilities.

Cyber Security in IndiaVijay Chauhanpp. 20-22

Abstract

ARPANET was developed by the US Military for a computer to computer communication between various US Defence Research establishments and Laboratories. Further, development of an advanced form of quick communication between the various authorities led the world to step into the first kind of digital age. But as the saying goes “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction” USSR responded by letting its premier spy agency KGB infiltrate the ARPANET and steal the researches of the US Military and it is said that they succeeded into it. Thus the concept of cyber security came into play and after it as the Internet went global more and more, countries began to join the fray of developing their cyberspace for their military and civilian uses. In the age of digitalization, cyberspace is now open for civil uses too rather than military only. But as things came with their pros and cons, Cybercrimes emerged as a potential challenge to deal with. In order to prevent the cybercrimes, civil or military infrastructure began to get digitalized. As regards the internet, the need for cyber security began to grow to protect the very interests of the nations. As the globalisation of the digital age grips the world major developed and developing nations, India is not far behind in this context.

A Comparative Study of Clustering Models in Data MiningPrasanjeet Chaakraborty, Sohini Sen and Sourav Maitypp. 28-35

Abstract

Data is a treasure-house in today’s world. Relentlessly huge amount of information is generated by different organizations and people. The key to handle this data is categorizing them into groups, partition or cluster based on some similarity among them. Data mining plays a significant role in potential segmentation, customer segmentation etc. It is a type of unsupervised learning used in data analysis to find some unrevealed pattern hidden in data. Clustering is a mining technique used to position the data element into their appropriate groups. It is the task of partitioning data(objects) into same class. The data are more similar to each other in one class than those present in other cluster. This paper makes a comparative study of different clustering algorithms based on performance, approach, its advantage, disadvantage and examples.

Game Theory: Prisoner’s Dilemma and its applicationsSayani Chakraborty, Ritti Mondalpp. 49-53

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to understand the basics of game theory and the most widely used game that is the prisoner’s dilemma and its application in Indian market.
Game theory involves strategic decision making where the outcome of the game depends on the strategies or moves taken by the each participant called “player”.
There are two types of games:
  • Cooperative game.
  • Non cooperative game.

In a cooperative game players form a group and aims for joint profit maximisation.
In a non-cooperative game, there is no cooperation among the players of the game. Each player decides on his own strategy to maximise the profit.
The most commonly used game in game theory is prisoner’s dilemma. This was developed by Albert W. Tucker, in 1950.It describes a situation where two suspects have been arrested for a crime, jointly committed by them. However the police men have no direct evidence for the crime. The two prisoners are kept in the two separate cells, so that they cannot communicate with each other. Each suspect is informed that if he does not confess and the other one confesses then his jail term will be for 10 years, while if he does confess the crime then the jail term will be reduced to 5 years. If both of them confess then each prisoner will be jailed for 5 years. However if none of them confesses the crime, then their jail term will be reduced to zero due to lack of information .
The payoff matrix is as follows:
Prisoner 2 Not confess Confess Not (0,0) (10,5) Confess Prisoner 1 Confess (5, 10) (5,5)

Unemployment with Inequality – A Major Problem in Indian Labour MarketRangoli, Christabel Reana Lowden and Laxmi Kumaripp. 61-64

Abstract

This paper examines the rising unemployment leading to income inequality in India and assesses the problem in Indian labour market by examining contribution of different sources of income inequality, rising unemployment and labour market situations and devise measures to reduce the situation. Unemployment with income inequality has proved be a threat for Indian economy. The ailing labour market also throws light towards this situation. In recent times unemployment has increased causing a job crisis in the economy. Labour force participation in the labour market especially female’s participation has declined over years due to the various factors. Increase in informal employment has increased the gap in income disparity providing explanation to the fact “the rich are richer and the poor are getting poorer” in our economy. The need for urgent action in creating a more job oriented economy that absorbs the productive potential of its working population and raises living standard of its people could not be clearer. The dream of India to be a rich economy requires a strong labour market in order to become a reality.

Unfolding the impact of environmental factors on the evolution of Polycystic Ovarian SyndromeShreya Das, Rajkumari Deepikapp. 71-76

Abstract

In this review we highlight the detrimental effect of numerous environmental factors potentially implicated in the etiology, prevalence and inflection of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) in woman population. PCOS is a heterogeneous multifaceted disease of woman emanating infertility, abnormal fetal growth and irregular menstruation. Precisely, the leading environmental factors, we discuss, include oxidative stress, environmental toxins, lifestyle, nutrition and heavy metal elements causing the onset of PCOS. Research evidences explore that environmental toxins can potentially induce the oxidative stress through (reactive oxygen species) ROS generation, thereby disrupting the reproductive health system. Additionally the synergistic influence of certain dietary supplements and weight loss in obese women has also deliberated. The features of key nutritional factors in preventing or mitigating the growth of PCOS as well as its associated other metabolic disorder have been scrutinized. Finally, further research in these avenues is highly admirable since global scenario of PCOS is remarkably crucial pointer of socioeconomic, environmental and epigenetic factors that possibly leads to adverse health effects in future generations of the world.

Animatic Character Design – Manual, Digital & PresentAditi Karmokar, Rishav Dasguptapp. 77-81

Abstract

Animation is the illusion of movement which is created by showing a series of still pictures in rapid sequence. “Animation” means “to give birth to”. So, animation is the process of creating something what we can’t easily see in realistic world. People are well acquainted with the term Animation. Our area of focus is Character designing technique in Animation. In animation, character is a very important thing. In early years animation was created through a fully manual technique that is known as “Cel animation or Traditional animation”. Animators created frame by frame animation by hand drawing. They created all poses of each character & filled colour manually. But as the world progressed, technology got updated, digital media progressed, the process of animation also changed. In digital animation, 2D animation was first to develop. This with time simplified the process & was user friendly. Here, animators get more option to create the characters and animate them. In this context, animators create only some main poses & use these poses to create a full character animation like – walk cycle, jump cycle etc. Now a days, 3D animation is ruling the present field of animation and provides us with a promising future and a lot to expect from. 3D characters are much more realistic. In 3D, we can create a 3D model of a human being which looks like a real character.

Virtual Reality -360 degree ImageShreya Vishwakarma, Subham Changripp. 86-89

Abstract

A 360-degree photo is a movable panoramic image that surrounds the original point from which the shot was taken.
The users can look around the surrounding parts of the image by panning the screen or with the help of special hardware such as gyroscope where tilting enables the device to work as virtual panning.
The ability to turn around and look at the surrounding environment is achieved through a combination of software and a number of panoramic photos. The panoramic photos are lined up to make a continuous circle. The digital cameras often have built-in software that helps to align the shots. Once enough shots of the surrounding areas are taken, the pictures are either uploaded to an application to be converted into a 360-degree photo or created through a mobile app on a smart phone. When a 360 degree photo is uploaded in the Web, it can be played through Adobe flash software.
360 degree images are mainly used for showing off vistas, Architectural Visualization (both exterior and interior) and more in for a dramatic fashion that replicates the experience of being there. The demand of the 360 degree images are rapidly increasing day by day and this function has been given in some smart phones and digital camera.
Keywords: Virtual Reality, 360-degree, Panorama, Panoramic, Virtual world.
