Course Overview

This full year course introduces students to yearbook design and development through a collaborative, hands-on approach. Students are historians, journalists, photographers, and artists as they produce Riverglen’s annual yearbook. Students will be introduced to the basics of digital photography and the digital darkroom, writing/layout design and techniques, and editing skills. Topics include the fundamental, technical aspects of the digital camera, camera angles and composition, artistic elements and techniques of yearbook design, and roles and responsibilities of a project development team. Students will take a journalistic approach and practice effective communication, time management, and organizational skills that will prepare them for whatever field they decide to pursue in the future. This is an exciting course that will challenge students to meet project deadlines, and create an end product that will stand the test of time.
