Photo I
35mm Film Photography, Traditional Darkroom Processing, and Intro to Digital Photography
Photography I Course Overview
This course concentrates on the art of basic black & white photography. This class will introduce you to your camera and its controls, the fundamental vocabulary of photographic processes and procedures as well as the basic techniques of exposure, film development, traditional darkroom printing and finishing, and composition. Control of photo equipment and techniques, experimentation, problem solving, and portfolio development are critical to the course. We will also cover the history of photography, contemporary issues in photography, digital photography, and the digital darkroom (Adobe Photoshop).
****Students need a 35 mm SLR (manual function) film camera. I have a few cameras students can share if they can not bring their own but equipment is limited. Friends, relatives, thrift shops, amazon are just a few places you can find them for great deals. An SD card is also a good idea for digital image storage when we get to digital photography.
