Dear Parents of Beginning Band Students:
Beginning an instrument is an exciting time in your child’s development! In band, they will learn new skills, make new friends, have new experiences, gain confidence, and experience teamwork on a daily basis as they work toward achieving goals with classmates. The band staff is eager to help your child learn, and make this a positive and memorable part of their fifth grade year!

We know the summer months can slip by quickly, so please keep the following dates/timeline in mind:
June:
Make arrangements for private lessons (optional)
July:
Make arrangements for obtaining a working instrument - will need by August for Jumpstart Classes or by first week of school for all others
Attend Instrument Fair on July 28th at BCIS (optional)
Mail in registration for Summer Jumpstart classes by July 31 (optional)
August:
Summer Jumpstart Classes begin (August 3, 5, 10, 12, & 17) (optional)
Finalize details for obtaining an instrument - *must have in hand by first week of school*
Pick up Pelligrino rentals following BCIS open house on Aug 25, 2026
