Bioenergy Harvesting

Our laboratory developed a platform to extract photosynthetic ions from alga cells in short-day plants. First, we fabricated a cantilever nano electrode to verify the insertion characteristics of an alga cell that varies with the electrode’s size, shape, and material. From this technique, we were able to create a nano electrode that was best suited in cell insertion and extract photosynthetic electrons from a plant cell that can stay alive up to seven days. Based on these results, we are currently conducting research on creating and analyzing large-scale photosynthetic energy harvester systems by the use of nano electrode fabrication and multi-alga cell insertion.
