The Make a Difference Club (MAD Club), a student service club has open enrollment for any 6th, 7th or 8th grade student at Kerr Middle School. The purpose of the MAD Club will be to focus a group of students, under the guidance of adult leadership, in participating in projects to improve the Kerr Middle School campus as well as reaching out with service projects in our community. Funds raised from Box Tops for Education and other programs as approved by administrators will be used to purchase items as needed to complete projects taken on by this group.
Membership in the Kerr Middle School MAD Club will be open to any 6th, 7th or 8th grader interested in participating. Students must maintain appropriate conduct for all classes and must be academically passing all classes. The adult sponsor will check grades every three weeks. A student receiving a failing grade or demonstrating unacceptable conduct may be placed on probation for three weeks. If there is no improvement after the three weeks probation, the student may be dropped from the club. Any student that is placed on probation twice in a year may also be removed from the club. A student that is found to be unable to participate in KMS MAD Club activities in a safe and responsible way will not be allowed to attend further events.
The KMS MAD Club will meet at various times throughout the year and on Mondays afterschool until 4:45.. Students may be members even if unable to make meetings. We will participate in events throughout the year such as Trash Bash Cleanup, TCU Rhino run, Bailey Lake cleanup, etc. The membership will elect a president, vice-president, a secretary and a student responsible for publicity. Students will help choose and develop projects to be presented to Kerr Middle School administrators for approval.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the KMS MAD Club, you need to show this note to your parents. If they agree this is an activity in which you will be able to participate, your parents and you need to fill in the form attached and return it to Mrs. McGee. You may turn it in by asking your PRIDE teacher to place it in my box, or you may take it to the office and request it be placed in my box, or bring it to me personally in room A 105. Please try to return the note by September 13 so we may begin the process of electing officers.
I am very excited about the KMS MAD Club and look forward to working with you to improve our campus and community.
Mrs. McGee
