The Berkeley County Emergency Management Department offers FREE Emergency Medical Responder recertification.
Recertification consists:
8 hours of general medical education
Accepted training: Medical In Service / Continuing Education training at individual fire departments, Online Medical Training, Current EMR course attendance, after – action sessions with a medical component, Reduction of Opioid Loss of Life training, Stop the Bleed training, EMT training (if a responder attends EMT but will not complete the course prior to EMR expiration), Whitesville Fire / EMS Continuing Education Program, Berkeley County EMS Continuing Education Program, Any other medical related direct delivery course, other options will be evaluated as needed
4 hours of non - medical other training
Accepted training: Other emergency services training / instruction time / ambulance ride time
Basic Life Support CPR renewal / recert (1.5 - 4 hours)
Accepted training: Any form of Basic Life Support training will cover this requirement even if it does not reach four hours; renewals may last less than 2 hours in length.
After hours are completed, the recertification form must be emailed to Will Rochester, will.rochester@berkeleycountysc.gov, or for any questions on recertification.
