Farewell to Ali

We wished a bittersweet farewell to Dr. Shahid Ali, who is starting a research position in Niel Shubin's lab at the University of Chicago. Congratulations, Ali!


Lab granted a Smith Family Foundation Odyssey Award!

We are very excited to be awarded a two-year Odyssey Award from the Smith Family Foundation! From the Foundation's website, "The Award supports the pursuit of high impact ideas to generate breakthroughs and drive new directions in biomedical research.  The awards will fund high-risk, high-reward pilot projects solicited from our brightest junior faculty in the region." We are grateful for the support and the vote of confidence and we are very eager to pursue this project!


Dinner after Anna's talk

Anna Redgrave is now a PhD student at the University of Michigan, and she came back to BC to present some of her work in a Science on Tap Seminar! The whole lab went out for dinner afterwards and we even got to see Ben and Joan, other lab graduates!!

Big congratulations to graduating seniors Hyungwoo Lee and Flora Hepp!!

We also wished a farewell to the lab's technician Joan Donahue! Joan is off to accomplish great things at a several months-long research internship at OIST in Okinawa, Japan! We miss hear already.

The lab was very pleased to attend the Virtual Northeast Regional Society for Developmental Biology meeting. We presented four posters and a fantastic talk by postdoc Shahid Ali.

Posters by grad student Melody Harper and undergrad Emma Mohlman were awarded prizes in their respective categories! Congratulations to Melody and Emma!!
