Colonel Virts (Terry) and LtCol (ret) Woodrow met at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, in 1995 and flew together with the 22d Fighter Squadron. Following his assignment at 'Spang', Colonel Virts went on to test pilot school and ultimately was accepted ot the astronaut corps where he had two missions to space; one on the space shuttle (STS-130) and one as the International Space Station Commander. He has logged over 4300 hours in fighter jets and 213 days in space including three space walks. He has another unique connection to LtCol Woodrow as he was a mentor/sponsor to a USAFA cadet, Joe Markowski, who is married to LtCol Woodrow's daughter.
