A strong pillar of Arya Samaj Marathalli,Bangalore

Arya Samaj family of Shri Ram Lal Kumar & Smt. Karmawali (Known as Hakeem ji Family) blessed a son on 3rd. July 1946 in Bhulwal, Distt.Sargodha  (Now in Pakistan), was named as Suraj Prakash Kumar. During  partition the family Shifted India and settled in Agra  (U.P.)

 At the age of 5 years  he lost his father due to setback of partition and he with his six brothers & sisters was brought up by his eldest brother.In his childhood he use to participate in Arya Kumar Sabha & Aryaveer Dal Shakha in D.A.V.School campus with his elder brother.  After  completing study he regularly started participating  Arya Samaj weekly Satsangs in Arya Samaj, Nai Ki Mandi Agra,because his eldest brother was one of the founder member of this Arya Samaj ,Nai Ki Mandi & was also close to his house.

He passed M.Sc. Physics in 1969 but instead of Job he joined  his brother’s business and got married  to Prem Arora from  Arya Samaj Family of Bareilly in 1972 .His father-in-Law was a President of Arya Samaj  ,Bhoorh & mother-in-Law was a President of Mahila Samaj , Bhoorh,Bareilly.

It was a turning time in  his life when he shifted to his own new built house in Kamla Nagar ,Agra in 13 th.April 1979 (A Day Of Vaisakhi the New Year of Punjabi Community). He hosted  Om Dhawaj  on his house. Mr. Ratan Lal Gupta & Sh. Kavinder Nath from  Arya Samaj Balkeshwar  Colony , while passing  in front of his house ,noticed  the Om Dhwaj and called  Shri Yash Pal Arya (Guru JI) the Secretary of Arya Samaj ,Nai Ki Mandi to now about the Arya  family shifted some time back to Kamla Nagar.

The  very next day they came to meet him and told about their plan to buy one plot & to shift Arya Samaj ,Balkeshwar Colony to  Kamla Nagar ,a newly Developed colony by U.P.Avas Evam Vikas Parishad. The Balkehwar colony was a labour colony with one small room accommodation houses adjacent to Kamla Nagar .The people were running  Arya Samaj in one of that Quarter with room size 8ft X9ft. But they were not having sufficient fund to buy the plot in Kamla Nagar. Mr. Kumar open the doors and assured them to arrange the extra fund needed from his relatives & friends earliest possible. Withen about 15 days they got the fund and agreement was made with one of the plot owner with advance payment .Luckily that plot  No. F-94 of 200 sq. ft.was just on the back of Kumar’s house . It was decided in the executive meeting that the Arya Samaj Balkeshwar will be merged with  Arya Samaj,Kamla Nagar and after selling old premises whatever amount will be,that will be utilised in the construction of a new building and decided that the title of the new Arya Samaj  will be Arya Samaj, Balkeshwar-Kamla Nagar.

After possession the Bhoomi pooja was done  on the day of Dusshera October 1981 by Mahatma Arya Bhikshu ji from Vanprasth Ashram,Jawalapur (Haridwar).The Yajay was performed by Pt. Ram Saran Shastri ji .The function was witnessed by all office bearers & members of all the  Arya Samaj of Agra.  Soon after construction work started with some donations received at  the time of Bhoomi Pooja. He made two teams of three members (Each) with Senior members of Arya Samaj Balkeshwar and started collecting donation door to door daily  early morning for 3 hours and within a year ground floor was ready to use with Yajayashala on the first floor. By the time of  Annual function in November 1982,  Ist floor Prayer Hall was  also got ready. In 1994/95 one room as a Atithi Greh was built  on  second floor  with the support of  Shri Ram Chand Punjwani, motivated by Mr.S.P. Kumar.

He fully dedicated himself for Arya Samaj services with the support of his Eldest Brother & Wife and they always inspired him. Arya Samaj services were primary , family & business were secondary for him.

 He never believed in  executive post and wanted to serve as a common member because  he thinks when a person involved in executive post & powers he  can not work like a common member due to ego. However after few years he was nominated for the post of Secretary in his absence and he had to accept it under pressure by  senior members of Arya Samaj who loved him .Being a secretary for Arya Samaj Balkeshwar-Kamla Nagar continuously for five terms from 1994 to 1998 and President for two terms from 1999 to 2000 he worked like a common member  without ego taking every body in confidence.He always extended full support & respect to Purohit of his tenures Shri Ajender Shastri and all the members .He worked like a Sevak with passion & full transparently ,used to clean entire building himself on every Saturday,a day earlier of Weekly Satsang.

All Arya Samaj people of Agra Janpad were satisfied with his way of working  with a team spirit, passion & dedication keeping full transparency  in all respect .He was nominated for the post of Secretary of Arya Kendriya Sabha,Agra and was elected anonymously in 1991 and worked for three years and in 1994 he was anonymously elected Secretary for the Arya Up-Pratinidhi Sabha Agra  with full support of all Arya Samaj members of Janpad Agra.  

 During his tenure as a young Secretary he started a new Era with full passion & Energy taking all Arya Samaji’s together respectfully.He was blessed by Swamy Suchetanand ji,Swamy Shamanand ji ,Swami Swaroopanand ji,Swamy Vishwanand ,Swami Sankalpanand ji & senior’s Shri Dayanand Advocate,Shri Inder Mohan Mehta,Shri Pooran Chand Arya,Shri Dharampal Vidhyarthi,Dr. Vidya Sagar,Smt. Shanti Nagar,Smt. Raj Kumari Arya,Shri Yash Pal Arya,Shri Umesh Chand Kulshreshth,Shri Arjun Dev Snatak,Shri Om Prakash Shasrty,Shri Ashok Kumar Shastry , Shastri Shanti Swaroop Sharma and Acharya Abheh Dev ji. . He was anonymously re-elected as secretary of Arya Up-Pratinidhi Sabha, Janpad Agra in 1997 &2000.

During Secretary of Arya Up-Pratinidhi Sabha Agra,he took-over a newly established Gurukul Dhakola by Swami Vishwanand ji at Peengri,on Agra Mathura Road and extended full support from Sabha . He revived the non- functioning  Arya Samaj of Agra Rural and established  three new Arya Samaj in Foundry Nagar, Sikandra Bodla and Transyamuna colony. He inspired  Arya Samaj people with a new thoughts & energy  for the welfare of the society and paved the way for Ved Prachar with new concept as per the mission of Swami Dayanand. He was loved by all Arya Samaj people of Agra  and was fully supported  in all respect which he respectfully reciprocated to all .

He was nominated as a  member of Arya Pratindhi Sabha,Lucknow and Sarvadeshik Arya Pratindhi Sabha,New Delhi in 1999 to 2001 &2001 to 2003.

He participated Arya Maha-Samelan held in  Mumbai in 1996 with a group of 175 members from Agra he gave words to Shri Vimal Wadhawan the then Secretary ,Sarvadeshik Arya Pratindhi Sabha & the organisor of Arya Maha-Samelan that when his Son will start earning he will wind up his  business and dedicate rest of the life for Arya Samaj activities .In the year 2002 at the age of 58 years he fully winded up his business in Agra and shifted Noida with his son & soon he took a membership of  Arya Samaj Arun Vihar, Secto 29, Noida.

In the meantime he was called by Shri Vimal Wadhavan to join Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha office in Asaf Ali Road,Delhi as a Office Superintendent  in place of Mr. Fateh Singh who left his services,he accepted the offer and started his services as a volunteer from 10 am to 5 pm.  He used to leave house at 9 am with lunch pack from Noida and come back to home at 6.30 pm. In 2003 Swami Satyam ji the than President of Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha designated him as Karya Mantri (Office Secretary)of Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha,Delhi.

He worked  two years with full dedication for Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha. Again turning point came in his life and he has to shift Bangalore with his Son who was transferred to Bangalore.He left Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha in last week of January  2004.

Soon after arriving Bangalore  he joined Arya Samaj ,Indira Nagar and after about 2 months secretary of Arya Samaj Mr.Yash Raj shared  him the responsibility of Arya Samaj Management and he started providing his services from 10 am to 2pm .He did a noble job streamlined the system made a wonderfull Library and gave a new look to the  Arya Samaj office

 Bangalore being a metro city with a huge population have only two Arya Samaj Mandir. So being a soldier of Meherishi  Dayanand  Saraswati  he decided to start a new Arya Samaj in Bangalore and accordingly  he planned to establish new Arya Samaj.

In April 2008 he shifted to his own new house in Thubarahalli near kundalahalli gate and started searching place surrounding to his house for “Arya Samaj.” He called a meeting of his like minded friends  Col H.C. Sharma, Shri A.K. Trivedi ,Mr.H.R.Arora, Mr. Anil Grover and Mr. G.K. Kumaraswami, Mrs. Prem Arora, Mrs. Neeta Bajaj and others and  formed  a management committee  with Col.H.C.Sharma (President) and Shri A.K.Trivedi (Secretary) and Mrs Prem Arora (Treasurer) and Shri H.R. Arora (Vice President) gave the title to newly formed Arya Samaj as " ARYA SAMAJ MARATHALLI."

With his will power and efforts by putting his all physical and financial resources  he hired a house for Purohit and requested Shri Ram Tirth Shastri ( A Vedic Scholar) , who was already associated as a Purohit  with Arya Samaj, Jaipur House, Agra  to come and help to establish a new Arya Samaj. Familiar with the dedication  and devotion of Mr. S.P.Kumar he joined the hands.

It was just a miracle, at the time of admission of Purohit’s Son ,the owner and Secretary of The Brillient School,  Shri G,R.Ramachandraiah  was  so inspired by Mr. S.P.Kumar , he himself offered  School Hall for Weekly Sunday Satsang and other religious functions, which pave the way….for the establishment of a new Arya Samaj

On 7th September 2008 a dream became  reality and  ARYA SAMAJ MARATHALLI was Inaugurated by Shri Y.R.Patil, I.P.S.(Retired I.G.Karnataka) and the function was blessed by renowned  Vedic Scholar ACHARYA  ARYA  NARESH JI and presided by Dr. P.C.Manav,President Arya Samaj (Civil Area) trust, Bangalore. The function was discoursed by Acharya Raj Dev Shastri ji (Etawah)  and Vedic Bhajanopadeshak Shri Bhanu Prakash Shastry (Bareilly) and   event waswitnessed by 350 to 400 persons. After “Thanks Giving” by the President the event was followed by a Rishi Langar. 

After grand opening of Arya Samaj Marathalli in the premises of Brilliant School, Weekly Havan & satsang started by Mr S.P. Kumar. He started performing out door Havan & Rituals himself and with the help of Purohit Acharya Ram Tirth Shastri. For administrative jobs he took one small office room on rent nearby in Thubarahalli. Continued for 6 years running Arya Samaj in other’s premises started him pinching and he started looking land for own premises without any fund in his pocket. But again where there is will there is way. With his strong will power he was blessed by God,he was offered the next door plot for sale, he immediately accepted the offer and paid advance,for not to lose any chance and  made a request to all members of the Arya Samaj Marathalli for their contribution as well as to all his relatives and friends .People came forward to help him and by the God grace land got registered on 30th March 2013. 

His Dream Came true with the help of Mr. Inder Talwar in planning & construction a five story modern eco friendly building with 3 spacious  Halls(Pryaer Hall,Day Care Senior Citizens Hall & Foodcourt Hall on the top),4 Senior Citizens Guest rooms attached with Kitchen & washroom with the backup facilities of Solar Gyser, Shendliar lift (8 Persons Capacity) and 10KVA Kirloskar Generator was ready to use in the 1st. week of March 2018  on a very  small plot of 1200 sq.ft.This was not less than a MIRACLE for him and  all of us, started with zero on 7th September 2008, the Arya Samaj Marathalli got his own modern Building. It surprised every one, how a will power & positive  thinking of a person can achieve selfless target .This is a result of passion,dedication & devotion of Mr.Kumar

It was a historical moment for Mr. S. P. Kumar, Mr. Inder Talwar and all their associates , Arya Samaj Marathalli Charitable Trust got Inaugurated its newly constructed building and Dedicated it  for the Mankind” on auspicious day of Ugadi/Navsamvatsar 18 th March 2018.(The day Swami Dayanand founded the first Arya Samaj in Bombay now its Mumbai in 1875) by Principle Commissionar of I.Tax Mumbai Shri Rakesh Bhaskar I R S , Swami Aryavesh ji President of International League of Arya Samaj,Shri Arvind Limbavali,M L A Mahadevpura countituency,Vedic Scholar Dr. Mahaveer Prasad Agarwal, Vice Chancellor Patanjali Vishwavidhalya,Haridwar,,Shri Jayram S. Chairman J.K.Group. The functioned was witnessed by about 700  Arya Samaj followers from different parts of the country.

With his dedication and enthusiasm he motivated many other like minded people  who believe in vedic dharma, for opening of new Arya Samaj at the places where ever people are not aware of vedic dharma so that new persons may come out to join and understand the Phylosphy of Arya samaj  and Vedic Dharma

In this process with the motivation & support of Shri Kumar Ji , one new Arya Samaj established at  Vellinezi Distt.Palkkad in Kerala in 2014 and Pandit Rishiram Aryoupdeshak Mahavidhyalaya  in 2016 by Shri K.M. Rajan.The event was blessed by Swami Arya Vesh ji and witnessed by many Arya Samaj Senior members & officials from Agra on request of Mr. S.P.Kumar (Fakire Dayanand)

At the age of 75 years Mr. Kumar’s commandable dedication & Devotion towards Arya Samaj & Vedic Dharma, encourages new generation to come forward and join hands to fulfill the dream of Swami Dev Dayanand Sarswati.

 He was felicitated on many occasions  in Arya Samaj Functions and also honored with title of VED SAMRAKSHAK  on 13 April 2013 by Swami Ramdev ji at Arya Samaj V.V.Puram,Bangaluru and “SWAMI AATMAMBODH KARAMVEER PURASKAR” on 31st. January 2020 by Mata Leelawati Arya Bhikshu Paropkarini Nyaas,at Arya Vanprasth Ashrum,Jawalapur,Haridwar.He was honored with “VISHISHTH MANAV RATAN PURASKAR” by Adhyatam Path (Reg.) Masik Patrikka on 29th. December 2020.

It is not the end for him , inspired by teachings of VEDAS he still have a dream for many other projects for the society to help the needy people. He is a true follower of Vedic Dharma and a Soldier of Swami Dayanand.

Swami Aatambodh Sarswati KARAMVEER Puraskar

Mata Leelawati Arya Bhikshu Paropkarini Trust  felliciates three persons for their Dedication & Devotion in the different domains of Vedic Dharam,Arya Samaj ,Sanskrit Literature,Yoga etc. in their programme of DEEKSHA JAYANTI of Swami Aatam Bodh Saraswati on 31st. January every year.

 In the year of 2020  Shri Suraj Prakash Kumar (Fakire Dayanand) the founder member of Arya Samaj Marathalli,Bangalore was nominated for SWAMI AATAMBODH SARSWATI  KARAMVEER PURASKAR for their selfless contribution and dedication for Arya Samaj since last 41 years .The fellictation Ceremony was organised at Arya Vaanprasth Aashrum,Jawalapur,Haridwar on 31stJanuary.

Sh. S.P.Kumar was facilitated with Felicitation Letter ,Smritihin with Rs.11000/- which he doubled and handed over Rs.22000-00 to Swami Vishwanand ji and Shri Ramakant Saraswat for Aarsh Gurukul & Gaushalla,Dhakola Distt Matura.  

The function was blessed by Proff. Roop Kishore Shastri ,Kulpati Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidhyalya Haridwar. The occasion was witnessed by Swami Vishwanand Saraswati,Shri Ramakant Sarswat,Sh. Vijay KumarAgarwal,Shri Ram Prakash and  Shri Umech Chand Sharma ( all from Agra the karambhoomi of S.P.Kumar).Shri Arun Kumar Trived and Shri Dinesh Rawat  from Bangalore.
