The Anticipation Guide is another way for students to interact with a text book. It provides a preview of what the teacher deems as important content, it activates prior knowledge, and it helps students to read with a purpose. The worksheet lists a series of statements taken from the section in the text that the students are to read. The students either agree or disagree with the statements before they read the section of text.
When complete, the students pair up and read Ear-to-Ear with a classmate. After they read the section, the students then go back to the Anticipation Guide and revisit the statements. They change their answers or leave them the same based on what they remember from the reading.
