Newsies Callbacks

Remember, everyone will be cast in the show.  If you receive a call back, it’s because we want to hear you again; it doesn’t mean you’re getting a named part.  Whether you are cast as Jack, Katherine, Davey, Crutchie, Pulitzer, Medda, a Named Newsie or Newsie Ensemble, EVERYONE is in the show.  We will be casting the show this weekend after callbacks and will post the final cast as soon as we have it all figured out. J…for those of you who have been on this journey with us before, you know what that can mean. J  

Depending on what we see at callbacks, some smaller speaking parts may not be cast but we will hold auditions at an all cast rehearsal as we get further into the season.  Also, there will be MANY highlighted talents displayed in this show that will not be ‘named’ at casting, including dance leads and dance ensembles.  If you’ve seen the show, think ‘tap dancing’, ‘back handspring’ and ‘aerial’ specialists!  We are excited to see more of what many of you can do as we move deeper into rehearsals after winter break. 

·         All cast and crew should plan to attend our 1st rehearsal on Monday, December 17th  after school in the theater.  Rehearsal will run until 5:30. We will continue adding specifics to the calendar as we move into the New Year.

·         Callbacks are Thursday Dec. 13, right after school in the theater.  They will last until we’re done, hopefully no later than 6:00.

·         We will have music and scripts available to use at callbacks.  No memorization is expected, but BE PREPARED to show us characterization at callbacks.  Some of you are being called back just to read, others just to sing, and others to do both. We won’t be dancing at callbacks.
