3/21/2019 - City Council Meeting

A few highlights of this months city council meeting. Full agendas and minutes to be posted on the city website (improvements coming there too... please stay tuned!)

Upcoming events:

• March 30th: Richland Creek cleanup
• April 17th: Drug take-back day at the Elkins Police Department
• April 27th: Fun with circuits event at Elkins Public Library
• May 3rd and 4th: Spring cleanup

News/Notices:

• 2 opening in the Police Department: Apply here!
• Approved a conditional use permit for model home in Stokenbury Farms - 18 months
• Granted approval for the city to apply for an Arkansas Economic Development Grant
• Granted approval for Police officers to work outside events, e.g. sporting events
• Granted approval for "Mace" the new Elkins K-9 Unit!
• State of the City Address from the Mayor

This has been a busy week! In addition to our council meeting, I was happy to help host Matt Twyford, Senor Manager Community Development from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission this week at city hall. We had a great discussion with Mayor Ledford about how to attract new businesses to Elkins.

We are also forming a new website committee to help us communicate effectively with the community. We have some great volunteers lined up and there will be more announcements on this in the coming weeks.
