This list of indigenous Deg Hit'an place names and locations was compiled by Dr. James Kari. Currently (Kari 1979, 2001). The Deg Hit’an linguistic group is associated with the lower Yukon and middle Kuskokwim River areas. The initial place name list was compiled by Kari (with contributions from Gusty Mikhail), and focuses on the place names elicited in the Deg Hit'an language, with their known duplicates in Holikachuk. In 2016, Gerad Smith georeferenced the place names from the typed manuscripts on file at the Alaska Native Language Archive (ANLA) (Kari 1979 & 2001). The record includes the Dene spelling, glossary identification, and basic English translation. See Kari 1979 and Kari and Fall 2001 for the published lists of Deg Hit'an place names.
