English 9

Course Description:

English 9 is a 1.0 credit, year-long class. Students will be exposed to the five main threads of language arts: reading, writing, research, speaking, and listening.  Students will learn about pre-, during-, and post-reading strategies for increasingly complex texts. They will also be asked to write about a variety of topics while utilizing a multitude of writing techniques. Additionally, and embedded within all assignments, students will be asked to think critically while applying levels of Bloom's taxonomy to texts and scenarios.

Opt-Out Procedure:

Should any student feel uncomfortable reading a text, said student may choose to "opt out" of its reading.  The student may request an alternate text without loss of credit.  I will work with the student to provide an alternate reading and an appropriate class arrangement for them to complete a similar reading to that which the class is reading.
