I began teaching at Legacy in 2001. Before I came here, I taught for three years at Vikan Middle School in Brighton, Colorado. I also taught for one year at Nederland Middle / High School in Nederland, Colorado. I am a National Board Certified Teacher in English and a regular presenter on technology integration at the Colorado Council of the International Reading Association, the Colorado Language Arts Society, and other conferences in the area. I have written podcast scripts for TED-ED (where my podcasts have been re-Tweeted by Amy Poehler's Smart Girls), received the Best Should Teach Award from the University of Colorado at Boulder, was a finalist for the 9News Teachers Who Care Award, and was a nominee for Colorado's Teacher of the Year Award. I currently teach in the English department and have two sections of English 9 and one section of Lit to Film although I retain my certifications in social science, English as a second language, and school administration. I also serve as the Gifted and Talented Advocate for Legacy.
My spouse, Laura Jordan and I have two beautiful girls, Jordan and Justice. Jordan (Warner, not Jordan Jordan!) has been in gymnastics, ballet, and piano since about birth. While she no longer dances, she has stepped into the world of volleyball and is now a setter for the University of Puget Sound's volleyball team in Tacoma, Washington. Jordan is studying psychology, sociology, and criminal justice, and while she isn't sure what she wants to DO with all of that knowledge, she is loving the process!
Justice has also been in gymnastics, ballet, and piano since she could walk, but she has turned her sights on theater, acting, and dance. Justice previously attended Denver School of the Arts but is now living in New York City as she studies ballet with the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theater. She auditioned for and was accepted into LaGuardia High School's vocal and dance programs but she had to turn that offer down in order to attend PPAS High School, so she can still attend her dance classes each day. She hopes to be a Rockette soon and to be on Broadway eventually. She has been in a few local theater productions like RMRT's production of Annie and BDT Stage's production of A Christmas Story and has also written and produced two plays: Mary and Her Lamb's Adventures and an adaptation of The Fantasticks.
